Employee Introduction #6: Johannes Fortner

innFactory is characterized above all by a strong team and long-term collaboration. That’s why we want to introduce our team in short employee interviews.

Name:

Johannes Fortner

Education:

Bachelor’s student in Computer Science

Area of activity at innFactory:

Frontend/Web Development

You’ve been working at innFactory for about a month. How did you become aware of innFactory?

As a student in the bachelor’s program in Computer Science at the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences, I participated in the Software Engineering focus project “Computer Vision” in the winter semester 2020/21. The project was carried out on behalf of innFactory, and that was when I first became aware of innFactory. I initially became a member of the project team through fellow student Daniel (Daniel Schulz), who had already participated in the predecessor project and was looking for team members for a continuation.

A few weeks after the project was completed, I was informed by Daniel, who is now continuing the former student project at innFactory, about an open position in development with a focus on frontend. I immediately seized the opportunity and applied as a working student.

Why did you choose innFactory as your employer?

During the student project, I was already able to gain a positive impression of innFactory. This was an important reason for me to apply to innFactory. Additionally, I want to specialize in frontend development in the future, and the position seemed like a perfect fit. I also see myself in good hands here with regard to my upcoming bachelor’s thesis.

What have you already been able to learn so far, and what do you particularly enjoy?

In this short time, I’ve already been able to gain insight into the activities and goals of innFactory. I was also able to practically apply my knowledge in web development from studies and vocational training. I particularly enjoy being able to contribute to the creation and improvement of software products.

What is the topic of your bachelor’s thesis and how did you come up with the topic?

I’m currently working on developing the topic for my bachelor’s thesis. From my bachelor’s thesis, I hope to gain new knowledge in frontend architecture. For this reason, I would like to focus on the topic of micro-frontends or scalable frontend architecture in my bachelor’s thesis. The concept of microservices is already widespread in the backend. At the frontend, modular architectures such as micro-frontends are a relatively new topic that has become increasingly important recently and has thus caught my attention.

Which three employee benefits do you particularly appreciate at innFactory?

– Flexibility of working hours

– Possibility of home office

– Selection of technical books for further education

What is your favorite programming language?

Due to my preferred field of activity in frontend development, I have gained the most experience programming with JavaScript or TypeScript. I particularly like the flexibility of TypeScript’s type system. Otherwise, I like Python and modern Java. For system-level development, I find Rust interesting because the language combines complex abstractions and high efficiency with safe memory management.

What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not programming?

In my free time, I enjoy reading books, listening to podcasts, or doing sports.
