#DeepFakes - On the Internet, Anyone Can Be Who They Want.

As part of a project at the University of Salzburg, Ella takes over the moderation of our innovation:now podcast and talks with our founder Tobias Jonas about perfectly faked texts, images, and videos, so-called deep fakes. In addition to texts, images, and audio files, there are more and more perfectly faked videos in which people apparently do or say things that never happened like that before.
Deep fakes are getting better and more lifelike thanks to the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI). It’s therefore worth taking a “look behind the facade” and exploring the question of what exactly is behind it and whether the unnoticed exchanged faces and word snippets in videos only cause harm or could potentially be of great benefit.
In the podcast, questions are answered about how a deep fake is created through artificial intelligence, what dangers exist, and why it’s so difficult for us humans to recognize a deep fake.
