Employee Introduction #13: Michael Niedermaier

innFactory is characterized above all by a strong team and long-term collaboration. That’s why we want to introduce our team in short employee interviews.
Name:
Michael Niedermaier
Education:
Computer Science student
Area of activity at innFactory:
Working Student
You’ve been working at innFactory for about five months. How did you become aware of innFactory?
I originally came across innFactory when I was looking for an internship position for my student internship in 10th grade. What then motivated me to apply here was the superbly designed website, which stood miles apart from the competition.
Why did you choose innFactory as your employer?
During my 2-week internship, I had an all-around very good experience. At the beginning, I was able to get a taste of web development, which I enjoyed. But what I particularly liked was mobile app development with Flutter, which I’m currently working with again. The people were also consistently friendly and helpful, so in the end, I remembered the internship as a wonderful experience. When Toni then got in touch with me last year, at the start of my computer science studies, I didn’t think twice and started working as a working student a week later.
What have you already been able to learn so far, and what do you particularly enjoy?
In the last few months, I’ve worked a lot with Flutter in mobile app development, where I’ve also gained tons of experience both with the Dart language and with general programming aspects like Git and Firebase. If there are any problems, I can directly ask my competent colleagues for help, which quickly resolves the issue. I couldn’t imagine any work that I would enjoy more than what I’m currently doing here at innFactory.
What distinguishes innFactory as an employer for you? Which three employee benefits do you particularly appreciate at innFactory?
These 3 benefits make innFactory an ideal employer for me:
The flexible working hours and home office. There are just days when it’s not possible for me to work in the office, whether due to an event at home or because of my studies. In these situations, it’s very practical to have the opportunity to work from home. It’s also no problem if I work a little less before my exam period in my studies to prepare for the exam and then make up for that time in the following semester break.
The environment. In addition to me, innFactory also employs many other working students. So my environment is always filled with people who share similar (professional) views, interests, and ways of thinking. This and the enormous technical skill of all employees make it incredibly fun and efficient to work in mutual communication.
The Spezi. In addition to coffee, the lifeblood of every programmer, innFactory also provides enough Spezi (and Spezi Zero) as an alternative, which I use a lot. “Little” things like that or an occasional round of foosball show me that at innFactory it’s not just about making as much profit as possible, but also about creating a pleasant work environment for all employees, and I like that.
What is your favorite programming language?
Since I’ve been working with Flutter and its associated language Dart, I’ve been falling more and more in love with it. Dart is structured similarly in some aspects to languages I know from school and university. It supports object-oriented programming, which reminds me of Java from my school days. Nevertheless, the language is extremely powerful and offers many possibilities that I haven’t seen in other languages like Java or C.
What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not programming?
I’ve always been and still am a passionate gamer. It started with Pokémon Blue on the Gameboy, which I got as a gift from my grandfather. Today I play almost everything I can get my hands on, from multiplayer games like League of Legends or CS:GO to single-player classics like the Yakuza games. A special place in my heart still belongs to JRPGs, like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or the Tales of series, following the motto: the older, the better.
