With great regret, innFactory GmbH today shut down the popular Starbulls app for Android and iOS.

The app, which has served Starbulls fans faithfully for years, will no longer be operated due to missing data and the resulting limited functionality. The Starbulls’ promotion to DEL2 unfortunately came with technical hurdles for the app that we couldn’t overcome despite our commitment. The required live data was unfortunately not available to us from the DEL2 operating company. Even the simple conversion of the app without the league system would have required considerable effort, as some components would have had to be removed.

“We would have loved to rebuild the app for DEL2,” said the CEO of innFactory, “but without the live data, the main feature of the app would have been lost. Therefore, together with the Starbulls, we have reluctantly decided to shut down the app completely. We thank the Starbulls and their fans for the trust they have placed in us and for the friendly cooperation in recent years.”

Despite today’s shutdown, innFactory looks back proudly on the success story of the Starbulls App: With over 10,000 active users in the last 365 days, 7.5 million app events, and an average dwell time of 40 minutes per user in the last 30 days of the Oberliga Play-Offs, the app was an integral part of the fan experience.

Furthermore, the app was also very popular in the German App Store, ranking 170th among the most successful sports apps. With approximately 5,000 active iOS installations, the app achieved a rating of 4.8 stars with 545 reviews. With approximately 4,000 active Android installations, the rating was even 4.6 stars with 535 reviews.

We regret this necessary decision but look forward to continuing as a sponsor of the Starbulls in the upcoming season. We remain optimistic that the app may one day, perhaps even in DEL1, be brought back to life.
