What is AWS Elemental MediaTailor?
AWS Elemental MediaTailor is a scalable ad insertion and channel assembly service that runs in the AWS Cloud. It delivers targeted ad content to viewers and enables the creation of linear streams while maintaining broadcast quality in over-the-top (OTT) video applications. Ad insertion supports HLS and DASH for both VOD and live workflows.
Channel Assembly is a manifest-only service: MediaTailor never touches the content segments themselves, which continue to be served from your own origin server. Instead, MediaTailor fetches the manifests from the origin and assembles them into a live sliding manifest window. Ad breaks can be inserted without having to condition the stream with SCTE-35 markers beforehand. Channel Assembly can be combined with MediaTailor ad insertion or another server-side ad insertion service.
