What is Oracle Database@AWS?
Oracle Database@AWS is a joint offering from AWS and Oracle. It provides Oracle Exadata infrastructure, Oracle Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure (ExaDB-XS), and Oracle Autonomous Database Serverless, managed by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) but physically operated inside AWS data centers. It lets you migrate Oracle Exadata workloads, including Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), to AWS, deploy elastically scaling Exascale databases, and use serverless Oracle Autonomous Databases without provisioning your own Exadata infrastructure.
Technically, within an AWS Availability Zone, a dedicated network (the ODB network) is peered with the customer’s Amazon VPC, so application servers in your own VPC can reach the Oracle databases. Provisioning and management happen through the AWS Management Console, AWS APIs, CLI, or SDKs, which call the corresponding OCI APIs in the background.
Core Features
- Migration of Exadata workloads: Migrate existing Oracle Exadata and Oracle RAC workloads using standard tools such as RMAN, Oracle Data Guard, transportable tablespaces, Oracle Data Pump, Oracle GoldenGate, AWS Database Migration Service, or Oracle Zero Downtime Migration
- Serverless Autonomous Database: Oracle Autonomous Database Serverless (ADB-S) auto-scales compute and storage based on workload demand, without provisioning Exadata infrastructure or VM clusters
- Elastic ExaDB-XS: Start with as few as 8 ECPUs and 300 GB of storage, scale compute and storage independently, consumption-based pricing
- Reduced latency: Low-latency connectivity between Oracle databases and AWS applications through peering of the ODB network and Amazon VPC
- Zero-ETL integration: Integration with Amazon Redshift for near real-time analytics and machine learning on transactional Oracle data
- Integration with AWS services: Works with Amazon EC2, Amazon VPC, Amazon VPC Lattice, AWS IAM, Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon EventBridge, and Amazon S3 for backups
Typical Use Cases
Migrating Oracle Exadata workloads: Per the documentation, organizations with existing Oracle Exadata and RAC workloads migrate them to AWS with minimal changes, full feature availability, and performance comparable to on-premises deployments.
Elastic database workloads: Teams that want to start without contacting an Oracle sales representative use ExaDB-XS with consumption-based pricing and independent scaling of compute and storage.
Serverless database workloads: Applications with variable load benefit from Oracle Autonomous Database Serverless, which automatically adjusts compute and storage to actual demand.
Analytics across Oracle and AWS data: Zero-ETL integration with Amazon Redshift makes transactional Oracle data usable for analytics and machine learning in near real time.
Benefits
- Migrate Oracle Exadata workloads using familiar tools without major architectural changes
- Reduced latency through peering between the ODB network and Amazon VPC
- Public offer for ExaDB-XS and Autonomous Database Serverless without contacting Oracle sales
- One combined invoice through AWS Marketplace that can count toward existing AWS commitments and Oracle support benefits
- Available in multiple EU regions for data residency requirements
Integration with innFactory
As an AWS Reseller, innFactory supports you with Oracle Database@AWS: assessing whether ExaDB-XS, Autonomous Database Serverless, or a migration to Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure fits your workload, setting up the network connectivity between your Amazon VPC and the ODB network, and planning the migration of existing Oracle Exadata workloads to AWS.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Oracle Database@AWS?
Per the AWS documentation, Oracle Database@AWS lets you access Oracle Exadata infrastructure, Oracle Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure (ExaDB-XS), and Oracle Autonomous Database Serverless, all managed by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) but physically hosted inside AWS data centers. You can migrate Oracle Exadata workloads, deploy elastic Exascale databases, and deploy serverless Oracle Autonomous Databases.
How is Oracle Database@AWS billed?
Per the documentation, you purchase Oracle Database@AWS exclusively through AWS Marketplace. For Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure, you first contact an Oracle sales representative, who then makes a private offer available to you in AWS Marketplace. ExaDB-XS and Autonomous Database Serverless are available through a public offer that you can subscribe to directly without contacting Oracle sales. Your AWS bill shows the usage; there are no data transfer charges when the application and database are in the same Availability Zone.
In which AWS Regions is Oracle Database@AWS available?
According to the official announcement, AWS made the service generally available on July 8, 2025, initially in US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon). By May 29, 2026, per AWS's announcement, availability had expanded to 20 Regions, including Frankfurt, Dublin, London, Zurich, Milan, Spain, and Paris in Europe, along with regions in North America, Asia Pacific, and South America.
What is the difference between ExaDB-XS and Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure?
Per the documentation, ExaDB-XS lets you start small with as few as 8 ECPUs and 300 GB of storage, with independently scalable compute and storage, consumption-based pricing, and a public offer without contacting Oracle sales. Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure targets migration of existing dedicated Exadata workloads and is purchased through a private, individually negotiated offer.
