AWS Transform is an agentic AI service that helps organizations modernize their IT estate. AWS describes the service as an enterprise IT transformation workbench: specialized agents take over recurring and effort-intensive tasks such as inventory, dependency mapping, refactoring and the actual transformation of code and infrastructure. Cross-functional teams collaborate in shared workspaces and direct the agents through natural language chat.
The service addresses a concrete problem: legacy workloads such as Windows/.NET applications, mainframe systems and VMware environments can only be modernized with high manual effort. AWS Transform automates large parts of this work while keeping people accountable through human-in-the-loop reviews. In its first year, the service processed around 4.5 billion lines of code and saved approximately 1.69 million hours of manual effort, according to AWS.
