What is Playwright Workspaces?
Playwright Workspaces is a fully managed service for end-to-end web testing built on Playwright, and is part of Azure App Testing, Azure’s consolidated offering for load and end-to-end testing (comprising Azure Load Testing and Playwright Workspaces). The predecessor service, “Microsoft Playwright Testing,” was retired on March 8, 2026; existing users migrate to a new Playwright Workspace.
Playwright continues to execute test code on the client machine (developer workstation or CI agent) while remotely controlling cloud-hosted browsers via the Playwright Workspaces service. Test results, trace files, and other artifacts remain on the client machine after a test run completes. Existing Playwright test code can be adopted without changes.
